selling high quality, brand name lingerie and other items for women
with a fuller figure. All our ranges must include cup sizes D, DD, and
E or should include large back sizes up to at least 46. The demand for
larger cup and back size bras is growing - the average bra size is estimated
by Triumph International to have grown from 34B to 36C, or even 36D
in less than 10 years. Despite this growth in demand, shops are reluctant
to stock a wide selection of larger sizes.
There have been several very successful
ventures in this field recently. However, their execution leaves room
for competition that has a very focused goal, the ability to source
product effectively and the technical ability to design an attractive,
easy to use site. We firmly believe Double-D.com's
extensive industry knowledge and contacts, plus a simple, clear, easy-to-use
format and extra content give us a significant competitive edge.
Our principle target market is women of
25 to 45, probably professional or working, leading busy lives with
a family, confident in using the Internet and requiring bras and other
lingerie in larger than average sizes. We are also aiming much of what
we do at men, as we expect them to constitute around 40% of orders,
buying lingerie for the woman in their life.
We have targeted these 2 market segments
because of previous experience of the difficulty many women have of
finding larger sizes in local shops, and the reluctance men have of
confronting a sales assistant about lingerie. The convenience of the
Internet means that no matter where a customer is s/he only has to visit
the family/office computer, at any time that is convenient, to access
a wide range of sizes and styles at www.Double-D.com,
products that probably could not be found locally. The anonymity of
the Internet means that men can browse www.Double-D.com
and buy without embarrassment, and get useful advice and information
at the same time.
Our product range ensures great choice
in a very wide range of sizes - back sizes 30-56 inches,
cup sizes B-J and accessories S-9X
Large (dress size 32). We are also able to cater for specialist requirements
such as sports and post-mastectomy. We aim to offer comfort, support,
confidence and good looks in our range.

Fantasie of England, Rigby & Peller, Charnos, Silhouette, Exquisite
Form, Freya, Chantelle, and Ulla Dessous.

The support for breast cancer charities
arose out of previous fund raising work done by Double-D.com's
Managing Director, Linda Parrish-Smith. When the company was set up
the principle of making a donation from the company profits was agreed
as a fundamental element of operations. The charity we have chosen is
the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (registered charity
209631).
The company is run by 2 directors who have very
complimentary experience:
Linda Parrish-Smith has 12
years lingerie industry experience as a buyer for a large multiple
chain - the Westgate Department Stores Group based in Peterborough.
She has been responsible for sourcing, buying, merchandising, and
marketing in 12 department stores across the region.
Nick Summers is a skilled
communicator, computer user, and manager, as well as having marketing
and small business experience. Until 1998 he was an engineering officer
in the Royal Air Force.
